Cory Meier and Camie Schneider, members of the local a capella group Hear and Now, are holding a vocal workshop at Minnesota Conservatory for the Arts Sunday, March 1. Students enrolled in this workshop will be taken through the process of creating and rehearsing a pop a cappella cover song. Additionally the workshop will include instruction on distorting the voice to mimic different instrumental styles, the importance and achievement of intonation, and an introduction to vocal percussion.
This is an exciting and unique opportunity for music students, especially those who are in a choir or who study voice. Students will learn new tips, tricks, and technique while creating their own exciting a cappella music.
Participants in grades 5-8 will meet from noon to 2 p.m., and participants in grades 9-12 will meet from 2 to 5 p.m. The workshop is $15 for fifth- through eighth-graders and $25 for ninth- through 12th-graders.
