On Saturday, Jan. 31, the Department of Theatre and Dance hosted the Minnesota High School One Act Play Finals for Section I-A. High school students and their directors, as well as family and friends, descended on the Page Theatre for the performances and to see which production would go on to the state competition. Schools participating were Rushford-Peterson, Fillmore Central, Triton, St. Charles (Theresa LaValla ‘15, director), Pine Island, Southland, Lincoln (Lake City), and Stewartville.
Fifty Saint Mary’s theatre and dance students, as well as faculty, provided assistance for the festival. Students worked as timers, hosts, ushers, concessions workers, at admissions and registration tables, and in the sound booth, light booth, scene shop, on stage, and in the makeup room.
The three judges, certified and hired by the state, chose Triton’s production of “The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (unabridged)” to move on to the state tournament.
