The Envision Club, part of the Kabara Institute for Entrepreneurial Studies, sold monster cookies Saturday at the home basketball games to raise money for a micro-finance organization called KIVA.

KIVA is a nonprofit microfinancing organization whose mission is to alleviate poverty by “empowering people around the world with a $25 loan.” Essentially, they “crowdfund” to raise enough money to make small loans to entrepreneurs in lower income countries.

Through the cookie sales, the Envision Club raised enough money to fund three $25 loans. This money will be repaid by the end of the loan term, at which point the club will be able to choose a new loan recipient.
